Sorry it has taken me so long to post from the good old west. We've been quite busy as you can imagine, so I'll try to recap quickly. And there are not going to be pictures for this post because I didn't bring my camera cord.
My birthday was great, after a long day of traveling, my mom made walnut chicken (at my request) and we had some chocolate cheesecake for dessert. I got a cute shirt, a yummy candle, and scrapbooking stuff.
We had a good time getting ready for Christmas, lots of shopping and baking, and snacking.
Zoe was quite overwhelmed on Christmas morning, she had too many things to play with and look at. She actually went back to bed before all the presents were opened. She got everything from clothes to books to toys that make noise to a Mr. Potato Head to a my little pony. Ryan and I both got clothes, books, movies, and gift cards.
This past Sunday, I got called up randomly to share my testimony in Sacrament meeting. It was unexpected but I was really happy that I was able to share my beliefs with my family there.
With several built in babysitters, Ryan and I have actually been able to go out a few times alone, which has been so nice. We've been talking about our future plans for 2009 and our new year's resolutions.
We also got family pictures taken, again...lol...but with my side of the family. Hopefully we will get to see them by the end of the week.
hmm, what else....oh! Tonight for New Year's Eve, we are having a murder mystery dinner. It's a pirate theme and I'm pretty excited to get everyone dressed up. (I'll take pictures and recap that in a different post, sometime soon)
Zoe has been making leaps and bounds out here, literally. She has learned to pull herself up to standing using furniture and will stay there. She isn't walking yet, but she will walk if you hold her hands. I'm impressed by her skills, but at the same time, I really want her to stay little for a few more months.
She is getting another tooth, this makes 3, but this one is on the top. She has been quite a pill at night, keeping Ryan and I up most nights. She did have a cold, so the congestion hasn't been helping either.
She is quite fascinated by cousin Noah, however, if she gets to close she tends to attack him, so she has to be restrained when she wants to play with Noah.
We are all having a great time here in Oklahoma, we'll be home in a few days, and back to a regular posting schedule.
Happy New Year!
XOXO,
Holly & CO.
Tonight we spent with Ryan's family before we head off to Oklahoma tomorrow. We were taking pictures and Ryan captured this one. I don't have a lot of pictures of me and Zoe, but I really like this one.
Zoe got lots of toys and clothes, we'll be taking more pictures with her in the clothes, they are so cute. I got a rotary cutter and mat (yeah!) and some clothes and perfume. Ryan got gift cards and goodies and jeans. Thanks Mom & Dad Humbert!
We don't have a Christmas tree up this year, but Zoe definitely enjoyed the ornaments :)
Well tomorrow I will be spending my birthday traveling, for the 3rd year in a row. But then when I get to Oklahoma, we are having my birthday dinner with Walnut Chicken...yummy!
Happy Holidays!
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Love, The Humberts
We are not doing Christmas cards this year, nor did we do them last year. Sorry to say, I had so many things going on, Christmas cards got pushed to the end of the line. However, I will probably be doing some sort of Valentine's/St. Patrick's Day/Easter cards, depending on the month I get to it, so never fear, I will send cards out...sometime next year.
This picture is from our photoshoot with Ryan's Family, just after Thanksgiving. (thanks to Mom& Jen for making Zoe laugh)
We will be heading to Oklahoma for Christmas again this year, in just a couple of days. Now we'll be on the same schedule with all the other siblings, so we will be all together next year. I'm just praying that the weather cooperates and we don't have delays getting there. We will be doing Christmas with Ryan's parents on Friday, so we'll see how Zoe reacts to presents. She has been very interested in the presents I have been wrapping for other people, but her only interest is chewing on the ribbon, or covering the paper in drool, I doubt she actually understands the concept of presents.
I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. Ours has been busy, but very bright.
Right now I'm getting in the spirit with Pandora, listening to 'Baby, it's cold outside." One of my favorite songs. I'll be wrapping up wrapping presents tonight, and then enjoying my clean house and maybe some sugar free fat free hot chocolate. Here's the recipe.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Ryan Humbert, for the best husband ever!
This morning, here is chilly California, lol, there was ice on my whinsheild and all my windows. Normally, I would scrape it with a credit card for like a minute, then wait for the car to defrost the rest. But no, I have the best husband ever, who scraped my car, while I sat in the car waiting for the heater to warm up. He scraped the entire thing, not just the windows I needed.
AND
Last night, I came home from work, to find my house, completely cleaned!
So let's hear it for the boy!
Here's to you baby, I love you!
Well this is not only my hundreth post, but it's about our Ward Christmas Party.
There's Zoe and Santa.
Well the party is finally over and I can let my nerves calm down now. Ryan was a super helper. He helped me scrub and wash 70lbs. of potatoes and bake 40lbs. But we got them all cooked and everyone at the party enjoyed them.
The tasks for this week include, packing for all of us, including Christmas Presents, cleaning the house, getting Campbell's stuff ready for the Kennel, and maybe catching up on a little crafting, but that is after all the above is done.
I just want to thank all the friends of mine that assisted with the ward party, including taking pictures, baking, keeping my sanity, helping clean up the kitchen, etc etc. you are wonderful!
Now I'm going to try and enjoy what's left of December and put on some Christmas music and be of good cheer!
If you would like to see more recent pictures of the Z Monster....
you can check her out here.....

Thanksgiving weekend was great!
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
On Thursday, we slept in and watched some of the Macy's day parade.
Then, Ryan and I dropped Zoe off with Grandma Julie and Aunt Jen, and we went with Grandpa Dan, Eric and Brok to see the new 007, which was actually pretty good. I liked it better than Casino Royale, but that's just me.
After the movie, Ryan and I rushed home to get the apple pie and salad for dinner, then back to Dan & Julie's for our Thanksgiving feast!
We had turkey, potatoes (mashed and funeral) green beans, salad, rolls and lots of pie!
Here's a couple of pictures from Thanksgiving, we didn't take a lot. First one is Zoe and Aunt Brooke. The Second is my neice Taylor.
Friday we went to Walnut Creek to have family pictures taken by Meghan MacAskill. Zoe didn't get all her naps in, so by the time we reached El Torito for dinner, she was maxed. Ryan and I had to take turns sitting with her in the car, because she was being a monster. But she did fall asleep on the way home, and then slept all through the night, so I guess she made up for it.
Saturday, Ryan, Zoe and I headed to the Crocker Art Mueseum in Downton Sacramento. They had a Warner Brothers exhibit that was really fun. Ryan had to go there for school, but we actually had a really great time. We're hoping to go downtown again this next weekend and explore more.
And because I haven't put up a lot of pictures recently, here's some of rolly polly Zoe
Miss Z has sprouted another tooth. She now has her bottom two teeth. Although I miss her toothless, gummy smile, the new little tooth smile is adorable. I've tried to get a picture, but all we get are blurred images, she won't sit still long enough for me to get a decent picture.
Sorry I have been so bad at blogging. Life is busy around the Humbert Apartment. With church, school, work and baby, it leaves little time for blogging, but I do try. I did see Twilight this weekend. You can check out my review on my other blog here.
This week we will be spending Thanksgiving with Ryan's family. It will be so nice to have a 4 day weekend! We are also taking family pictures and I so excited that we will finally have an updated one!
I will attempt, again, to get a toothy picture but I will need Ryan's help.
Hope you all have a happy thanksgiving.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Ryan called me work yesterday all excited, Zoe started crawling.
Her put her on the floor and then put her bottle a few feet away, and off she went.
However, She has not performed for Mommy. I'm hoping she'll perfect her crawl at Jamie's today and that she'll be all over the place tonight. We're going to have to start baby proofing the house.
Also, we started her on baby food. Last night she had rice cereal and tasted sweet potatoes and pears. She likes the cereal, she wasn't so hot on the sweet potatoes and was too impatient for the pears, we will be attempting again tonight.
Zoe will be 6 months in a couple of weeks. I'm just in shock at how fast the past year has gone by. I ask Ryan all the time," Are we really parents?" It's almost surreal.
Thanksgiving is next week and the whole Humbert Family will be here! Yeah! and Family pictures! I have really wanted family pictures since Zoe was born, and I'm so excited to get one with each side this season. We're gonna hang them up in our apartment, it's seriously lacking wall art.
If Zoe starts crawling, I'll try to get a video and post it for you all!
XOXO,
Holly & CO.
Zoe has recently started to notice that we eat food a lot different than hers. She grabs for our food whenever we eat while holding her. Luckily she gets to start food in a couple weeks.
Today, during the Sacrament, Ryan was holding Zoe. I passed him the tray of bread and right before he took a piece, Zoe snatched a handful of bread right off of the tray. It took a lot to not burst out loud laughing, but I had to take the bread away before she shoved it in her mouth.
Zoe's tooth is coming in fast and we're expecting more teeth soon.
We've been busing enjoying a relaxing weekend. Lots of rolling around on the floor and movie watching.
This week however is right back to busy. It seems this time of year just flies by.
Have a great week.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Wow...time for an update.
Last week, Ryan's grandfather, Norman, passed away. He lost his battle with cancer. Although I didn't know him well, I am glad that he was able to spend some time with Zoe. He will be missed. We attended his funeral service this weekend.
My cousin Alan came to town. I hadn't seen Alan in over a year, so it was nice to have him come spend the weekend with us. We just hung around the house watching movies and eating. I made homemade donuts though, and those were a bit hit. Zoe had never seen anyone with a beard before so she got a scared by Alan's beard at first, but after a few minutes she sat and stroked his face, it was quite funny to watch. Her fascination with hair is so funny.
Zoe's tooth in coming in still and is causing much distress. She is more cranky and fussy than usual. I'm hoping that the first tooth is the worst and that she will get better after this one.
It's amazing how quickly time flies after Halloween. As soon as trick or treating is over, the Christmas shopping begins, it's crazy.
We didn't have a Christmas tree last year, so I am really looking forward to having one this year. I already got some ornaments on sale at Crate and Barrell this summer. I'm still deciding what to do about stockings. I was thinking about making them, but then I saw some adorable ones at Target that weren't very expensive and look way better than anything I could make, so I might but those and then just embroider our names on them. I guess I have a few weeks to decide.
This week is our first week in a long time that we don't have a ton of stuff planned so I am hopefully going to be able to get some deep cleaning in, along with some relaxation and maybe even crafting!
Have a great week everyone. I will take some pictures of Zoe this week and put them up....I know that's why you all read this blog anyway :)
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Zoe turns 5 months today.
She got her first tooth last night!
She can roll front to back, and back to front.
She can scoot herself towards an object, usually a paci or toy.
She likes to push up onto her toes while laying on the ground.
She loves to bouch on my lap.
She giggles when you pinch her cheeks.
She thinks my hair rollers are so funny.
She laughs when she spits up on me, especially if it's in my hair or down my shirt.
She cuddles on my shoulder when she is tired.
She falls asleep when I sing "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" or "My Favorite Things"
She loves her taggie blanket.
She loves to play with hair.
She knows her name, and will turn her head when you call her.
She holds her own bottle.
She likes eskimo kisses.
She looks like her daddy.
We love you Z, we're so glad you are a part of our family.
XOXO,
Momma
You can see her here, on her Jamie's blog
Or you can see her here at her at my wonderful friend Stephanie's Photography blog
I'll be taking some Christmas card attempts pretty soon, I'll probably go get professional ones taken too, but when I do it, I get the outtakes, and those make some of the best pictures.
Happy Monday,
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
So I know I'm a few days late but we've been quite busy. I wanted to share our pictures from the trunk or treat. Lately Zoe is so fascinated by the camera, she won't smile, but I think we got one or two smiles.
Happy Halloween everyone!
XOXO,
Holly & Co
Friday night, Zoe went with Ryan to Uncle Brok's football game, while mom snuck off to see HSM 3 (you can read about that on my other blog)
Although, I don't have any pictures, I was told, Zoe was good and slept through most of the game, marching band included.
This Friday will be Zoe's first halloween. Since I'm the co-chair of the activities commitee, we will be spending friday night at our ward's Trunk or Treat party. Although halloween is probably my least favorite holiday, we will ALL (including Ryan) be dressing up this year. I will definitely take pictures!
Not much else to repot.
Ryan re-caulked our tub, so I had to give Zoe a bath in the kitchen sink last night. She is so long that she barely fits in the sink when she's lying down. Ryan took some cute pictures, I'll post them tomorrow.
Lately she's been sleeping 10-12 hours, it's been lovely. She went from sleeping through the night, to waking up at 2, and now we're back to sleeping through the night.
Have a great week!
XOXO
Holly & Co.
Zoe went for her 4 month appt.
Weight: 14 lbs. 5 oz. 50th percentile
Height: 25 inches 70th percentile
Head: 41 cm 40th percentile.
She also had to get 4 shots. I think this was her first official meltdown, she screamed and screamed, like I had never heard. She also needed a nap, so that contributed to the meltdown, but I felt so bad. Luckily, she fell asleep in the car on the way home.
It was a bust.
Sad story. We had plans to go to apple hill with our next door neighbors. We got packed and headed out. Well, the traffic was really bad and thick and our car just couldn't handle the constant pressure on the clutch, so we had to turn back. Luckily, we did get apples. On our way back down the hill, there was a grower. So we got some apples and I will be making apple pie tomorrow. They had types of apples I had never even heard of. So yummy. Luckily I did get a few pictures. So here they are.
One of the growers took our picture on the tractor. We couldn

This is what I got to wake up to today. Zoe has "Honey Bunny" jammies that have bunny feet attached. Although it meant getting up at 5 o'clock this morning, it was worth every bit of it to see her smiling with these little bunny feet attached.
Church was great today. I got a new calling. I actually already have a calling, but my new calling is Activities Commitee Co-Chair. I'm a little intimidating as being that everyone else on the commitee is 15-20 years my senior. However, I am confident in my party planning abilities, it's just the leadership role am I nervous about. Ryan will be getting a calling too, but they haven't told us what it is just yet. He's anxiously awaiting the calling.
This afternoon was full of cornbread, B-B-Q chicken and lounging. Hope you all had a great weekend,
xoxo,
Holly & Co.
Although it's getting colder here, and windy, we decided to take Zoe and Campbell to the park. The first park we went to was overflowing with people, so we drove a little farther and came to this park, nice and quiet.
I put Zoe in the swing and she was a little unsure at first, but starting giggling after a minute. Campbell got to run free, which she loves. We're going to spend the evening cuddling and giggling with some diet Coke. Have a good weekend all!
xoxo,
Holly & Co.
Well Ms. Zoe has been under the weather this week. she was stuffy, feverish, wasn't eating/sleeping on her normal schedule/pattern. Turns out she just had a cold. She is doing better now.
She is now perfecting the art of rolling over. Ryan said yesterday afternoon, he couldn't get her to stop. Then this morning I laid her on the floor and she wouldn't stop. So we have a rolly polly on our hands. And we love EVERY BIT of it!
I also started a new blog. brown-eyedmama.blogpost.com. I felt bad entering my thoughts, interests and etc. into a blog named "Baby Humbert". So I will keep this blog for all our family's updates and pictures, but for my personal musings, interests and etc, you can visit this blog.
I'm also still updating the weight loss blog. I'm trying to be better at that.
XOXO,
Holly
Here's some more recent pictures.
New friend, Spiderman.
Peek-a-boo
We think that she'll be an early crawler. When she gets like this, she kicks and kicks and kicks.Yesterday Zoe could not stop staring at the General Authorities during General Conference. She would get all excited and squeal and squeal. She has recently found her voice and she likes to test the volume. Made concentrating a little difficult.
We were planning to go to Tahoe last weekend, but it started to storm here, so we decided against it. But hopefully, we can get up there before it really starts to snow.
Hope you all are having a good week.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Ok, I am playing around with trying to get videos of baby Z. She was babbling all night and I was trying to catch it on video. I'm going to try to get her giggling tomorrow morning. She is always happier in the morning.
Have a good night.
Well this has been a big week for Miss Z.
Sunday, she rolled over for the first time. We actually missed it, we walked away for a few minutes, and came back, and boom, she had rolled over. She has done it in front of us too, so we know it's for real.
This week she has started to hold her own bottle. She is still struggling to hold it the whole time, while she eats, but she is getting better.
Also, she's started taking more interest in Campbell. Before she really didn't pay attention, but now, she watches Campbell move around and play. It's really fun to watch.
She's getting close to being able to sit up on her own. She can do it for a few seconds, and then topples over.
She is going to the Dr. next week, for more shots and stats, so of course I'll update then too.
Have a good weekend everyone!
XOXO
Holly & Co.
I'm so excited that the weather is finally changing. Growing up in Denver, I'm used to cold winters. I love the clouds, the snow and the rain. Here in California, the winters are more mild, we still get cold, clouds and rain, but no snow, unless we go up to Tahoe. The weather has been just perfect the past few days.
Yesterday, Zoe attended her first birthday party, for Ethan Stauffer. She slept through most of it, but Ryan and I had so much fun. Ethan & his parents live next door and we love them! We took some pictures of Zoe before we left for the party.
(I doctored them in Photoshop a bit)
I'm so excited for the holidays, it's my favorite time of year. The songs, the smells, the decorations! I'm so glad that we have our stinky bink to celebrate with us this year. I've always loved holidays but I have found a new love for my excitement for Zoe to have these experiences.
Thanks to my wonderful husband who watches our baby, I've been getting up to date on my scrapbooking. I've been updating both Zoe's and my scrapbooks, same pictures, but different pages.
Well it's back to work tomorrow, but we had a fun weekend.
XOXO,
Holly & CO.
I'm sorry it's been a few weeks since I have updated, we're getting into a new routine.
I went back to work last week. it was hard, but I didn't cry. Although I loved being a stay at home mommy, being back at work helps us out financially, and gives me a chance to interact with other adults. A big thanks to Zoe's caretakers, Jamie, Stephanie, and Grandma Julie, knowing that she is with one of you, gives me peace of mind.
Zoe is growing and changing all the time. She is starting to almost roll over. She leans up to one side, but then decides not to go through with it and falls over. She is enjoying learning about her new voice. She sqwalks, squeaks, and coos, especially when she looks in the mirror. We also discovered that when we tell her " Shh" like to be quiet, she thinks it's the funniest thing, and laughs. And the more we do it, the louder she laughs, it's quiet entertaining.
I started making her halloween costume last week, she's going to be a ballerina. I made a tutu! It wasn't hard, it only took 30 minutes and cost be about $3.00. It's pink and fluffy, oh I can't wait for her to wear it!
Ryan is working so hard with both work and school. This semester he is taking a computer night class, that he just loves. It's right up his alley. He's also getting so close to finishing the super nintendo handheld.
Campbell, well, is just Campbell. She loves that Ryan finished the patio off, so she could roam out there and spend time with Ryan while he works on his projects. She loves baby Z and tries to get in her face to kiss her all the time.
A feel good: Every few months at work, the Bloodmobile comes. I've never donated before, but while I was pregnant, I discovered my blood type is O-. After learning that I have universal blood, I made myself a promise that I would donate as often as I could. Today, I started to fulfill that promise. It was not as bad as I thought.
This weekend: Zoe is going to her first birthday party, for Ethan. I'm going to try and take some pictures!
The weather here as started to cool down, I can't wait for WINTER! My favorite time of the year. Although we don't get snow here, it can get quite cold! I'm so excited to wear my boots and scarves and peacot!
Have a great week,
XOXO,
Holly&Co.
Meet LeRoy. He is a blue-ish seahorse, that has a magical singing/glowing belly. We met LeRoy today at Target during a close call screaming session. LeRoy did such a great job of keeping Zoe quiet and happy, we decided to take him home with us.
All afternoon has been spent with Zoe smiling and giggling at this sea horse. He's a keeper. LeRoy is too heavy for Zoe to lift, because of the magical belly, but she holds onto his fins.
Now about Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana). Well Zoe has entering the teething phase and often has a meltdown right before Daddy gets home. The other day I was frantically trying to get her to calm down, and decided to try music. I went to the itunes music videos, and clicked on Miley Cyrus "7 Things". That 30 second preview quieted Zoe down, but as soon as it was over the crying started again, so I broke down and bought the music video. I think we watched it 30 + times before she fell asleep in my arms. I have no idea why she likes it, but it works. The picture below is at night, after the crying fits have subsided.
I'm heading back to work next week, and I'm a quite nervous. Not for Zoe, because she will be in great hands, but for me. I'm hoping I can get through the emotions and not have a meltdown at work. I also hope I didn't forget everything about work. I'll let you all know how it goes.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.

Can't wait for the Season Premiere of:
This is my last full week at home with Zoe. She has started laughing when we tickle her. She's just a joy to be around. I can't believe she's 3 months already. Since she is teething, we've been spending a lot of time cuddled up together, being held seems to calm her down.
I'll be trying to take more picture of her smiling this week, but no promises.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
I thought I would post a new picture of Ms. teething Z. This is her "I just woke up and want to eat" face.
when your Dog runs away and you spend 20 minutes chasing it, while the neighbor watches your baby, because you were changing the laundry and the dog ran outside when you opened the door.
You make cookies, you bake half and then take a spoon to the other half, all while drinking a diet coke. Lucky for me, most of my nights are not like this.
In baby news: Zoe is teething. Yes, it's hard to believe she's only 3 months, but there are definitely toothies coming in.
As I was making pasta salad yesterday, I noticed something about the pepper I was cutting.
It made me stop and smile. Hope you are all having a good week.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
We blessed Zoe this weekend in Provo, UT. I just wanted to thank all those who traveled to come see and support her. It was a long 12 hour drive there and an even longer 12 hour drive home, but it was worth it to be surrounded by family and friends for this special day.
(I will post pictures as soon as I get them, we didn't use my camera.)
We also got to meet cousin Noah. He's so small. It's hard to believe Zoe was smaller than him when she was born. Compared to Noah, Z is a monster.
Lately, I've been working on Zoe's scrapbook. I have my large (12x12) scrapbook for me, and then I bought a small one for her (8x8) so that she will have her own scrapbooks to take with her when she moves out. I've also been working on my scrapbook. Before Zoe was born, I hadn't even gotten to our wedding photos. I've been working hard to keep up. I've been using a lot of the stash I have built up over the years, so much so, that I think I am going to need to go shopping again soon :)
Last week, we dug out the webcam and hooked it up so that Nona & Papa (my parents) could see Zoe in action. We're hoping they will get one soon so we can see them too!
Well, baby Z needs to wake up to eat so I better go. I'll post blessing pictures as soon as Dad sends them!
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
